Actor Questions / Starting out

Can I start acting with no experience?

Yes. You can begin acting with no professional experience. You are not expected to arrive knowing how to break down a script, work on camera, or take direction. That is what training is for.

Your first job is smaller than “become a great actor.” Learn how to read the whole scene. Get clear about who you are talking to, what you need from them, and what changes if you do not get it. Prepare a simple choice, try it, receive a note, and go again. That cycle matters more than arriving with confidence. Experience is built through repetitions you can learn from. Start in a class that genuinely welcomes beginners, but still asks you to prepare and participate. Beginner does not mean passive. It means you are building the tools on purpose.
