Actors get auditions through several routes: talent agents, direct casting notices, student and independent productions, theatre calls, workshops with legitimate submission opportunities, and relationships built through previous work. For much of Toronto’s professional film and television market, an agent is a common route to auditions.
The route matters less if the materials are not ready. Keep your headshots current, your résumé accurate, your footage easy to review, and your availability honest. When sides arrive, respond on time and submit work that follows the instructions. That reliability is part of the audition. If you are still building experience, look for opportunities that match your current level instead of chasing every notice in the city. More auditions do not automatically make you more prepared. Better preparation makes each appropriate audition more useful.
